Somebody Slipped In

What does it mean to truly belong to God in a world where so much can quietly slip in and compromise our faith? Drawing from the book of Jude, we are reminded that we are sanctified, preserved, and called -- three powerful declarations that define who we are before we ever face a single challenge. Being sanctified means we are set apart, not living like the world around us. Being preserved means God held us together when everything in our circumstances screamed that we should have fallen apart. Being called means none of us are here by accident. And because of all three, we are charged to contend for the faith -- not with flesh and anger, but with a deep, rooted commitment to what God has delivered to us. Jude's letter is a masterclass in spiritual awareness, and it meets us where we are: in the middle of a noisy, shifting, easily distracted generation. The message is clear -- we cannot afford to be spiritually flimsy. Anything that moves us, shakes us, or pulls us away from the foundation of truth is a sign that something may have slipped in. The invitation here is not to paranoia but to discernment, and discernment begins when we build ourselves up daily in the word and in prayer. This is not someone else's job. It is ours.
