They Think I Am Stone Crazy

In his sermon, **"They Think I Am Stone Crazy,"** Pastor Melton explores the powerful transformation found in Mark 5:1-20, where Jesus delivers a man possessed by a legion of demons. Once feared, isolated, and labeled as hopelessly “crazy” by his community, this man’s encounter with Jesus changes everything. Pastor Melton draws our attention to the remarkable scene in verse 15, where the man is found **sitting, clothed, and in his right mind** at the feet of Jesus.

Pastor Melton explains that before Jesus intervened, the man was restless and tormented, unable to find peace. But now, he is **sitting**—a sign that Jesus brings rest to our souls and invites us into His presence, no matter how chaotic our lives have been. The man is also **clothed**, symbolizing how Jesus covers our shame and restores our dignity, giving us a new identity beyond our past mistakes or pain. Finally, he is **in his right mind**—evidence that Jesus has the power to renew our minds, bringing clarity, healing, and purpose even when the world has written us off.

Pastor Melton encourages us that people may not understand the change Jesus brings; they might even think we’re “stone crazy” for believing in His power to transform. But just as with the man in the story, our testimony becomes proof of God’s mercy and grace. No matter how others see us or what labels they place on us, Jesus brings us to a place of peace, covers us with His love, and restores us to wholeness.
